LABOR 2020 GOTV: Sunday – AFGE Literature Drop

Hi Fellow AFGE members,

Joe Biden has said that, “I will be the strongest union president you have ever had.” We’ll need a friend like that in the White House to advocate for federal pay raises, our pensions, and more.

Election Day is less than a week away, and we need all hands on deck to make sure AFGE members vote and elect pro-union candidates like Joe Biden.

AFGE is working with the Michigan AFL-CIO to host a Get-Out-The-Vote Kickoff Literature Drop on Sunday, November 1 starting at 1pm. Volunteers will be given door hangers and a map of homes to leave the door hangers on. We won’t be knocking on doors to talk with voters.

AFGE members will be gathering at 1pm the UAW Vote Center office in Detroit, MI located at 15140 Livernois Ave., Detroit, MI 48238. You’ll be able to drive through process to sign in and pickup your packets without getting out of your vehicle.

Bring your mask, because we would like to get a socially distanced group photo of AFGE members. We’ll also be providing packaged snacks.

If Detroit is too far for you – I’ve attached a flier with other AFL-CIO locations in MI that you can go to.

This is a great way to walk off some of that Halloween candy!

Please RSVP, or if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to me at m_buchanan2001@yahoo.com, or Legislative & Political Organizer Matt Muchowski at matt.muchowski@afge.org

Labor 2020: Your rights. Your retirement. Your benefits. Your pay. On the ballot.

The challenges we face are great, but they are no match for the talent, strength, and dedication of the AFGE membership.
However, AFGE needs you! That’s why we ask you to commit to the following:
  • I commit to completing a minimum of four volunteer shifts with my local, district or council as part of AFGE’s plan to mobilizeto protect our jobs, our right to have a union and all the workers’ rights having a union provides me during 2020.
  • I also pledge to talk to 5 of my AFGE brothers or sisters about our plan. I will discuss the necessity of good outreach, and I will ask them for their phone number, email, and to join our text list.
  • As an AFGE member I understand the enormous threats to our union and will do all I can to help educate our Congressional representatives and elect candidates who will fight for AFGE’s Legislative priorities including our right to a union and collective bargaining.
